Winter Wonderland
- A Feast for Family and Friends
Christopher Heights of Worcester celebrated the winter season at our
Winter Wonderland Open House Event. We were very fortunate to have a beautiful
winter day with bright sunshine and blue skies!
About 220 residents, employees and their guests were
treated to an amazing assortment of delicious foods. Hors d oeuvres included assorted
cheeses, crackers and a fresh fruit display, creamy clam chowder and homemade
lobster bisque. The main course
included herbed steamship au jus with horseradish sauce on the side, roast
turkey with fresh tarragon gravy, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, rice pilaf,
glazed baby carrots and green beans almondine. Guests were inspired to save room for
dessert and indulge in their selections from a huge assortment of
sweets.
Residents, employees and their guests were invited to have their
portraits taken and received a free 5x7 photograph, as a gift from
Christopher Heights of Worcester. Portraits were taken by Casson-Foster
Photographers of Auburn.
Keyboard music was provided by Nan
Connor and everyone enjoyed trying their luck at the raffle of themed baskets,
with all proceeds going to the Resident Activity
Fund.
Chair Yoga Offered to Residents

Christopher Heights of Worcester
offered an introductory Chair Yoga class in November and the responsd from our
residents was very positive. All of those attending agreed that they would like
to see Yoga offered as a regular weekly exercise class and so Michelle Jones,
Adminissions Director, glady obliged.
Yoga promotes
health and well-being by working with the mind, body and spirit. Our Yoga class focuses on breathing
exercises (called pranayama), yoga postures (called asanas) and a period of
relaxation and meditation.
There are regularly between 10-15 seniors who attend the
weekly class, which lasts a half hour.
Some of the benefits of Yoga that our seniors are already noticing
include more flexibility, being more purposeful in their movements so as not to
cause injury, having the tools needed to relax and also better sleeping
patterns.
Veterans Day Breakfast Celebration
The residents of Christopher Heights Worcester were treated
to a delicious made-to-order breakfast and gifts including fresh flowers.
